Bowen Island, B.C.
Bowen Island is a 20 minute ferry ride from the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal in Vancouver.
Beautiful place for a day visit. It's very relaxed there. The arrival of the newspaper seems to be the highlight of most residents day. You see people standing at the end of their driveways waiting for someone to deliver it, and end up chatting with their neighbours. What a great community spirit .. no need for gossiping over the morning coffee or sitting in the bar wacking back several brewskies to find out what's what in the world. Just wait in your driveway ... someone will tell you. I like this concept on news ... news on a minute to minute basis is overrated anyway. What can you really do about someone's trial half a world away?
There are several very nice beaches on Bowen, though a lot of the land is now privately owned so you have to hunt for beach access. I guess that's what Private Property means. Personally I would like to see more public access paths to the beachs. No one owns a beach. Just ask the next high tide who really owns that beach. Mother Nature always wins. That makes me smile.
Go outside now --- go hug a tree or smell a flower. Go watch the rain on the roofs or feel the snow in your boots .. wherever you are there is so much beauty to absorb. You just have to be open to it.
